Success is not a
constraint when there is a will. If properly planned and diverified fileds by
water management one can achieve good profits by a fruitful manner. Mr. Gopi Reddy is a perfect
example, who made it possible by converting rainfed, dry land into a diversifed
manner into mango cultivation along with Rice, Vegetables and Pulses.
Mr. Gopi Reddy Narasimha
Reddy S/o Janga reddy of Saraswathigudem village of Kandukur mandal, Rangareddy
district of Telangana is a farmer having anscetral 15 Acres of dryland. At the age of 81, he is successfully
owing a satisfactory income even in rainfed conditions. Even
though he is an illeterate farmer successfully settled his
two sons and two daughters. Earlier Mr.
Reddy was growing traditional crops like Cereals, Millets, Pulses etc. Because
of prevailing drought and failure of monsoon it was a big challenge for him to
manage 15 Acres of land and making livilihood. To overcome this problem farmer
was thinking of alternative crops which requires less water , minimum care with a fruitfull income.
Then, he decided to grow
mango in his 10 Acres of land. Since Mango is an alternative bearer, farmer
wisely allocated his 10 acres of land to a different varieties including
Banganpally, Dashehari, Kesar, Mallika, Pulasa and Peddarasalu, so that if one
variety fails to bear in one year other could give the fruiting. Thus ensuring
a regular income year after year. With the help of Agriculture Horticulture
Depatmen and financial assistance from the banks he could set up borewells and
drip irrigation system in his mango plantation. He wisely converts his
remaining 5 Acres of dryland by raising 2 Acrs of Rice, 2 Acrs of Vegetable and
in 1 Acre Pulses. As a result of it he started to earn around 6-8 Lakhs of
income.
In the initial years
till the mango plants start bearing he utilised the land by growing vegetable crops like tomato and Brinjal and Paddy
to fetch the income for his livlihood. Mr reddy adopted the cultivation aspects
right from the planting, chosing of varieties, erecting thr drip irrigation
system, plant protection measures as
suggested by the agriculture and hortiulture officers. With his keen interest
and dedication in farming mango plants
yielded a fruitfull results. Once the
mango plants started yielding crop ,his income increased gradually and reached
up to 8 lakhs.
With
the income generating from his farm he succesfully settled his two sons and two
daughters by giving them a good education. By seeing his success many farmers
has replicated in a same manner and could convert huge dry land into a
productiv e one. Thus Mr.Reddy proved the phrase “Where there is a will There is a Way”
